Private Golf Course Communities vs. Public Golf Course Communities

Americans love golf and living in a golf community is something many aspire and love. There are both private and public golf course communities. Let’s take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Private Golf Courses

The tranquility that comes with staying in a private, upscale, gated community that is fully furnished and luxurious complete with Golf Course can be marred with a wayward golf ball that crashes through one’s property! Even companies with planned constructions made considerable changes, after several such incidents a few years back. For example, in Prescott AZ there's a private course that is very exclusive to members call the Prescott Lakes. Prescott Lakes homes for sale are seen as luxury homes for the area.

Most builders allow enough spacing between properties and private golf courses; even wayward wide shots don’t reach the houses. Besides, homeowners get a stunning look of manicured green golf courses, while also enjoying being considered part of the upscale society, with golf courses and elite private club memberships.

A recent research study confirmed communities with a private golf course do have good resale value and is a contending point in sale negotiations.

Public Golf Course Communities

Public golf courses are considered more affordable than private golf courses. Some call for memberships, but most don’t. However, unlike private courses, public ones aren’t exclusive and can be crowded.

Golf courses that aren’t well maintained are an eye sore and cause a dent in the property value. This is more common in public courses than private ones. A good example of another golf course from the same city can be found at the Prescott Country Club, which offers open play to both the public and homeowners.

Properties close to public golf courses usually aren’t afforded the luxury of private course, where care is taken to give adequate spacing to prevent wayward balls from crashing into properties.

Besides, all these differences, privacy or the lack thereof, is common for both public and private golf communities. More so for public courses, considering the properties close the golf course won’t have privacy within their four walls due to the people moving back and forth around them.

Living in a community with a golf course means easier access to the course. A few minutes walking would be all it takes, to reach the course. This makes it easier and a preferred pastime, as compared to those who don’t have ready access to golf courses.

Also, not everyone who hits the golf course is polished. Everyone gets foul-mouthed every now and then and residents will be subject to it from time to time.

These are the pros and cons of private and public golf course and one should choose what’s more suitable based on the budget, preferences, and requirements.
