What’s fun to do in Prescott, AZ? Granite Dells are located near two man-made reservoirs, ideal for barbecuing, hiking, mountain biking, camping and just exploring with the family for fun. The best locations near this community would be found within the Granite Dells, Watson Lake, Willow Lake and through the Peavine Trail.Watson Lake is found relatively near Prescott Lakes and is one of two reservoirs within Granite Dells, just outside of Prescott. Watson Lake was created in the early 1900s when the Chino Valley Irrigation District placed a dam on Granite Creek. Back in 1997, Prescott purchased this reservoir and the surrounding land to be used as recreational land.Granite Dells is also near Prescott Lakes and offers some of the most scenic rocks and trails in the area. Often called ‘The Dells’, this area is mostly known for its large boulders of granite that have eroded into a really cool appearance of bumpy rock features. Both Watson Lake and Willow Lake are small man-made reservoirs found within ‘The Dells’. There are a few hiking trails that even connect to the Peavine Trail.
